Nishma Sharma

Leicester born Nishma graduated in 2003 from the prestigious Guy's, King's and St. Thomas's dental hospital in London. 

Since then Nishma has been practising the art of dentistry in practices including central and south London and Hertfordshire. 

She has been voted one of “Dentistry Magazine’s” top 50 most influential dentists in the country for three years running for her work in reducing inequalities within the profession.

I am a general, preventative and cosmetic dentist based in Bishop’s Stortford. Before that I was based in Dulwich, SE London where I had built up a strong patient base, including some well-known celebrity faces. 

We relocated from the ‘Big Smoke’ to the beautiful town of Bishop’s Stortford in the summer of 2012. 

I hope to take care of all of your oral health and cosmetic needs to as high a quality as you deserve.

As well as being a clinician, I have also worked in various other roles such as policy maker at the Office of the Chief Dental Officer, liaising with NHS England and the Dept. of Health and Social care on all things relating to dental health, oral health care and social inequalities. 

I believe in the fundamental principles of minimally invasive and preventative dentistry and have a meticulous eye for aesthetic work. I am a strong believer of empowering patients to take control of their own oral health via education and providing all options so one can make informed decisions to suit personal needs and budgets. 

I understand the huge psychological benefits of cosmetic treatment and also of the need to not over-treat or destroy healthy teeth in order to create the 'perfect' smile, thus I am a keen practitioner of the cosmetic tooth- friendly composite-bonding technique which provides an ethical solution to minimally invasive aesthetic dentistry. These are appropriate in minor alignment issues, discolourations and teeth needing rehabilitation due to excessive wear. 

I am one of the few practitioners to have extensive experience of this discipline as I have carried out numerous smile design cases as well as attending many hands- on seminars with some of the country's best practitioners in this field. 

I have a certificate in 'CFast' providing affordable cosmetic braces in very short periods of time with fantastic results. 

I hope to put you at ease by being as approachable and as gentle as possible. I have a (very!) chatty and informal manner and I like to think that this also helps. I welcome children and endeavour to make their first experiences with the dentist as positive as possible in order to keep them happy regular fearless dental attenders. 

Outside of work, I have a varied range of interests including freelance writing, interior design and bungee-jumping; all whilst being mummy of two darlings and a sausage dog…!
